Follow the wall from front to back.
In a long open-plan layout, the colour beside the front windows may look different near the kitchen. Test the same sample at both ends before deciding. Include cabinetry, flooring and adjoining rooms in the view.
If one wall spans the living and dining areas, treat it as a continuous surface when planning the repaint. A room label on a floor plan is not always a sensible paint stopping point. Send photos looking in both directions so the quote includes the whole run.
| The space | What changes the painting plan |
|---|---|
| A connected infill main floor | Long walls, kitchen transitions, stair openings and different light from front to back. |
| An older detached home | Existing repairs, original trim, previous finishes and surfaces you want to preserve. |
| A condo or attached home | Unit access, building requirements where applicable, storage and shared routes. |
Give the stairs their own line in the scope.
A repaint can start on the main floor and continue through an open stairwell to the upper hall. Photograph all three areas together. Height, landings and the household route influence how that work is planned.
State whether rails, doors and trim are part of the colour change. A clean wall repaint and a full woodwork repaint are different jobs, even when the finished colours are intended to match.

Use the home’s condition, not its age, to set the work.
Calgary’s 2021 community profile records both older and more recently built dwellings in Altadore, along with detached, attached and apartment homes. That variety is a reason to quote from photos and a defined scope rather than assume every property needs the same preparation.
Tell us about marks, patches and previous repainting. If work is planned before moving in, share possession and delivery dates. For an occupied home, identify a place for furniture and the rooms you need each day. Our starting packages give a budget reference once the size, height and condition fit.
A few details before you decide
Do you paint Altadore condos as well as houses?
Yes. Include any building access requirements, unit size and whether it will be empty. Condo walls, ceilings and trim should be listed separately.
Can I change only the main-floor colour?
Yes. Define the boundary at halls and stairs, especially where the walls continue to another level.
Do you paint before possession?
Access must be arranged with the property owner and the timing confirmed. Tell us when you will have access and when furniture arrives.
