THE SHORT ANSWER

A living-room quote should identify where each painted wall starts and stops, especially in an open-plan home. Include adjoining dining areas, the hallway, ceiling height and large furniture in your photos so the scope is clear.

Walk the room from every entrance.

Start at the front hall, then look back from the kitchen. A living-room colour is visible from more than the sofa. In an open-plan home, a long wall may run through several spaces without a corner where the paint can stop.

Take wide photos from these viewpoints. Mark the walls you want included and tell us which rooms should keep their current colour. We can discuss whether a natural corner makes a clean stopping point or whether the connected surface belongs in the quote.

Work with the furniture you are keeping.

Set samples beside the largest fixed colours: flooring, a stone fireplace, cabinetry and the sofa. A warm floor can make a cool grey feel cooler, while a deep green brings more contrast against pale upholstery.

If the room gets strong side light, inspect the existing walls with the curtains open. Tell us about visible patches or texture before choosing a finish. Colour changes the room’s appearance; it does not remove uneven surfaces.

A few details before you decide

Can you paint around furniture?

Show us the pieces that will stay. We will discuss what must move and how access will work. A crowded room can require a different plan from an empty one.

Should I use one colour in an open-plan living room?

One colour can simplify connected walls, but you can introduce a second shade at a defined corner or separate wall. Test the colours together from both rooms.

How much will my living room cost?

The room refresh starts at $495 plus GST for a qualifying room up to 10 × 12 ft. with 8 ft. ceilings. Larger living rooms, tall ceilings and connected areas need a scope-specific quote. See the full conditions.
