Start with the fireplace, floor or timber wall.
A large fixed material can carry several colours at once. A brick fireplace may have warm red, brown and pale mortar; a stone surround can have both warm and cool areas. Look at the whole surface before choosing the wall colour beside it.
Place two or three samples close to the material and then view them from across the room. The aim is to choose a colour you like with the finishes already there. Painting masonry or stained wood would be a separate decision and scope.

Decide how far the colour will travel.
If the living room opens to a dining area or hall, photograph the shared sightlines. You might keep one colour through those spaces and give a separate bedroom its own shade. A continuous wall needs a clear boundary if the colours change.
Include ceiling heights and any sloped sections. If the ceiling already suits the room and is in good condition, it can remain outside a wall-only scope. If it is marked or will clash with the new palette, ask for it as an additional item before work is scheduled.
Prepare for the repaint you want to do now.
A main living area can be quoted without the bedrooms or basement. List the included rooms and the areas that stay untouched. Tell us whether you are considering flooring or trim changes later; those plans may affect the best sequence.
For an occupied home, show where large furniture sits and where it could move. Add close photos of marks and old repairs to the wide room views. A quote can then address access, preparation, colour, finish and exclusions in one place.
Starting prices are available for specific room, condo and whole-home scopes. Homes with taller walls, significant repair work or additional trim need their own calculation.
A few details before you decide
Will you paint the brick fireplace too?
This page concerns interior walls and painted surfaces. A masonry finish needs separate assessment. Say whether the brick should remain untouched or whether you want to discuss it.
Can I keep the wood ceiling or beams?
Yes. Identify those as surfaces to protect, and test the wall colour beside them.
Do you offer a quote for just the living and dining rooms?
Yes. Include the connecting surfaces, ceiling heights and any trim or doors you want considered.
