Original wood can guide the new palette.
If the doors and trim are staying wood, bring the sample right up to them. Compare it beside the floor too. That shows whether the proposed wall colour supports the warm tones or makes the room feel mismatched.
A softer white can leave the grain visible as the main detail. A muted green or deeper neutral offers a different direction. Try a short list and view it from the hall, where several finishes may be visible together.

Where an older room meets a newer one.
A renovation can leave different trim profiles, ceiling heights or wall textures in adjoining spaces. Photograph those joins. Discuss whether the new paint will connect them through colour or retain a clear boundary between rooms.
Point out previous patches, peeling areas and any unknown coating. Preparation should match the surface. Do not assume that a fresh coat will hide a repair ridge or solve paint that is losing adhesion. Ask which repairs are included and what needs separate assessment.
Name what stays.
Stained trim, doors, built-ins and fireplace materials should be identified as protected surfaces where they are outside the painting scope.
Name what changes.
List walls, ceilings, doors and painted trim individually. Show transitions into renovated rooms or additions.
Set the household sequence.
If you are living at home, identify the room that can hold furniture and the routes that need to remain usable.
A repaint can be limited to the rooms you choose.
You can start with a sitting room, bedroom or hall without committing to every interior surface. Send your preferred timing, approximate dimensions and wide photos, then add close views of the condition.
For connected rooms, think beyond each doorway when selecting colour. Keep the product, shade and sheen details from the completed scope for later decisions. If you plan a future flooring or trim change, mention it now so the painting sequence can account for it.
A few details before you decide
Can you repaint walls without painting the wood trim?
Yes. Identify the woodwork that stays and select the wall colour beside it. Protection and preparation should be included in the agreed scope.
Does an older home always cost more to paint?
Age alone does not determine the quote. Surface condition, repairs, height, access and the work included matter more than a neighbourhood label.
Can you paint a newer home in Parkdale?
Yes. We quote the actual rooms and surfaces, whether they are older, recently renovated or newer construction.
